S.I. No. 129 of 1953.

WHEAT MILLING ORDER, 1953.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Wheat Milling Order, 1953.

2. (1) In this Order—

" the Minister " means the Minister for Industry and Commerce;

" the Acts " means the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Acts, 1933 to 1939.

(2) The Acts and this Order shall be construed as one.

3. The period beginning on the 27th day of April and ending on the 31st day of August, 1953, shall be a quota year for every mill licensed to mill wheat.

4. The Minister may by direction appoint a quota for a licensed mill in respect of the quota year appointed by Article 3.

5. The Minister may, by direction given within one month after the beginning of the quota year which begins on the 1st day of September, 1953, alter the quota for a licensed mill in respect of that quota year.

6. The Minister may, with the concurrence of the Minister for Agriculture, by licence relieve, to such extent and subject to such conditions as he may specify in the licence, the holder of a milling licence from the obligation to mill an amount of home-grown wheat calculated by reference to the appointed national percentage.
