CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (TURF INDUSTRY) (EXCLUSION) ORDER, 1951.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 29 and 52 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, and having first consulted with representatives of employers and workers, hereby orders as follows :—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Conditions of Employment (Turf Industry) (Exclusion) Order, 1951.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 28th day of May, 1951, and shall continue in operation until the 31st day of December, 1952.

2. The form of industrial work specified in the Schedule to this Order is hereby declared to be excluded industrial work for the purpose of sections 31 , 32 , 38 , 41 and 49 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936).

3. Save as provided by Article 4 of this Order, it shall not be lawful for any employer who employs any worker to do the form of industrial work specified in the Schedule to this Order to permit such worker—

(a) if a woman to commence work earlier than the hour of 8 a.m. on any day,

(b) to continue work after the completion of 9 hours' work on any day.

4. An employer may employ a worker to do work on any particular day for a period in excess of the period permitted in that behalf by paragraph (b) of Article 3 of this Order, subject to the provisions of section 43 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 , as to payment for such overtime work.
