AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE (EGGS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1951.

I, JAMES M. DILLON, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Agricultural Produce (Eggs) Act, 1939 (No. 2 of 1939), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do by this Order make the following regulations :—

1. (1) These regulations may be cited as the Agricultural Produce (Eggs) (Amendment) Regulations, 1951.

(2) The Agricultural Produce (Eggs) Regulations, 1939 to 1950, and these regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Agricultural Produce (Eggs) Regulations, 1939 to 1951.

2. In these Regulations, the expression " the Principal Regulations ", means the Agricultural Produce (Eggs) Regulations, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 169 of 1939 ), as amended by subsequent regulations.

3. Article 16 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended—

(i) by the substitution for sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph (1) of the following :—

"(a) with a mark (in these Regulations referred to as the origin mark) consisting of the words 'Republic of Ireland ' in capital letters one-sixteenth of one inch high, and " ;

(ii) by the substitution for the words " one tenth of one inch " of the words " one twelfth of one inch " in sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (1);

(iii) by the substitution of the pattern /images/si114y51p0877a.jpg for the pattern /images/si114y51p0877b.jpg paragraph (3).

4. Paragraph (2) of Article 17 of the Principal Regulations is hereby revoked.

5. Article 18 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended—

(i) by the substitution of the words " Produce Republic of Ireland " for the words " Éire Irish " in sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (1) ;

(ii) by the substitution for paragraph (2) of the following—

" (2) All letters and figures constituting any mark prescribed by the foregoing paragraph shall, except on the labels referred to in the next following paragraph, have the following dimensions, that is to say—

(a) all such letters and figures shall be at least one inch high in block type ;

(b) the total width of the space taken by every such letter or figure, except the letter I and the figure 1, shall be at least one half inch."

6. Part I and Part II of Schedule No. 3 to the Principal Regulations are hereby revoked.

7. Schedule No. 4 to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended—

(i) by the substitution of the words " Produce Republic of Ireland " for the words " Éire Irish " in sub-paragraph (ii) of Paragraph 6 ;

(ii) by the substitution for paragraph 7 of the following—

" 7. An adequate supply of suitable requisites (Stamps, ink, etc.) of approved pattern, composition or quality, as the case may be, for the marking of individual eggs in accordance with these regulations. For the purpose of applying the prescribed code mark to individual eggs stamps bearing the following numbers shall be provided

82, 84, 87, 88

8. These regulations shall come into operation on the first day of May, 1951.
