S.I. No. 258 of 1950.

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ACT, 1946, REGULATIONS, 1950.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Industrial Relations Act, 1946 (No. 26 of 1946), hereby makes the following regulations :—

1. These regulations may be cited as the Industrial Relations Act, 1946 , Regulations, 1950.

2. These regulations shall come into operation on the 9th day of October, 1950.

3. In these regulations—

" the Act " means the Industrial Relations Act, 1946 (No. 26 of 1946),

references to sections are to sections of the Act,

" the Court " means the Labour Court.

4. (1) Notices under section 38, under that section as applied by section 40, and under section 43, and orders under sections 39 and 40, shall be published by the Court in Iris Oifigiúil and in at least one daily newspaper circulating in the State.

(2) Where, however, an order under section 39 or section 40 has been published by the Stationery Office, it shall be sufficient for the Court to publish in Iris Oifigiúil and in at least one daily newspaper circulating in the State a notice stating that the order has been made and so published, and indicating its contents and stating that copies may be purchased from the Stationery Office.

(3) The Court may take such other steps as it thinks proper to bring the said notices and orders to the knowledge of persons concerned, including the sending of copies of notices prepared under regulation 5 or 6 to employers who appear to the Court to be affected and whose names and addresses are known to the Court.

5. The Court shall, as soon as possible after the publication, under regulation 4, of notice of proposals under section 42 in relation to remuneration or conditions of employment, cause to be prepared a form of notice containing full details of the proposalsand requiring representations to the proposals to be lodged with the joint labour committee concerned within thirty days of publication of notice of the proposals under regulation 4.

6. The Court shall, as soon as possible after the publication, under regulation 4, of notice of the making of an employment regulation order cause to be prepared a form of notice containing full details of the order.

7. The Court shall supply any person, on request, with copies of a notice prepared under regulation 5 or 6.

8. Every employer who employs a worker to whom proposals under section 42 relate, and every employer who employs a worker to whom an employment regulation order relates, shall post up and keep posted up a copy of the notice prepared under regulation 5 or 6, as the case may be, relating to such proposals or order, in prominent positions, so as to ensure that the notice shall be brought to the knowledge of, and can conveniently be read by all workers employed by him who are affected by it.

9. Where a notice to be posted up by an employer under these regulations refers to some prior notice or notices and, to be properly understood, must be read therewith, the employer shall post up and keep posted up a sufficient number of copies of the prior notice or notices, in the same manner as, and together with, the first-mentioned notices, so that both or all the said notices may be read as one notice.

10. (1) The Court may from time to time embody notice of any two or more employment regulation orders, giving effect to the proposals of a particular joint labour committee in a consolidated notice.

(2) Regulation 8 applies to a consolidated notice as it applies to notices under that regulation.

(3) The posting up and keeping posted up, in accordance with these regulations, of a consolidated notice shall be sufficient compliance with regulation 9.

11. The fee to be paid for a copy of a registered employment agreement supplied under section 31 shall be two shillings and sixpence.

12. The Industrial Relations Act, 1946 , Regulations, 1946 (S.R. & O., No. 320 of 1946), are hereby revoked.
