ORANGES (MAXIMUM PRICES) ORDER, 1949

I, DANIEL MORRISSEY, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946) as amended by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (Continuance) Act, 1948 (No. 18 of 1948), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling hereby order as follows :—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Oranges (Maximum Prices) Order, 1949.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 12th day of February, 1949.

2. In this Order the word " box " has the meaning attached to it by custom in the trade in oranges.

3. References in this Order to selling shall be construed as including references to agreeing or offering to sell or to inviting an offer to buy.

4. (1) No person shall sell by wholesale oranges at a price exceeding a price calculated at the appropriate rate set out in the Schedule hereto.

(2) The price specified in paragraph (1) of this Article shall be deemed in the case of a sale—

(a) in the County Borough of Dublin, to be a delivered price ;

(b) in the remainder of the State, to be a free on rail price.

5. No person shall sell by retail oranges at a price exceeding a price calculated at the rate of 9d. per lb.

6. The Oranges (Maximum Prices) Order, 1948 ( S.I. No. 191 of 1948 ) is hereby revoked.
