EMERGENCY POWERS (DISTRIBUTION OF BUTTER) ORDER, 1944 (EXCHANGE VALUE OF BUTTER COUPONS) (No. 1) ORDER, 1948.

I, DANIEL MORRISSEY, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Emergency Powers (Distribution of Butter) Order, 1944 (Exchange Value of Butter Coupons) (No. 1) Order, 1948.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 14th day of August, 1948.

2.—(1) In this Order, the expression "the Principal Order" means the Emergency Powers (Distribution of Butter) Order, 1944 (S. R. & O. No. 121 of 1944), as amended by the Emergency Powers (Distribution of Butter) Order, 1944 (First Amendment) Order, 1944 (S. R. & O. No. 171 of 1944) and the Emergency Powers (Distribution of Butter) Order, 1944 (Second Amendment) Order, 1948 (S.I., No. 154 of 1948).

(2) This Order shall be construed as one with the Principal Order.

3. This Order is supplemental to the Principal Order.

4. For the purposes of the Principal Order, the exchange value of a butter coupon shall be—

(a) during the ration week commencing on the 14th day of August, 1948—Six ounces of creamery butter;

(b) during any ration week commencing on or after the 21st day of August, 1948—four ounces of creamery butter.

5. Paragraph (2) of Article 17 of the Principal Order shall, in its application in relation to the ration week commencing on the 14th day of August, 1948, have effect as if the words " one and two-thirds times " were substituted for the word " twice."

6. The Emergency Powers (Distribution of Butter) Order, 1944 (Exchange Value of Butter Coupons) Order, 1948 (S.I. No. I of 1948), is hereby revoked.
