PUBLIC HEALTH (INFLUENZA) REGULATIONS, 1947.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 148 of the Public Health (Ireland) Act, 1878, hereby makes the following regulations :—

1. These regulations may be cited as the Public Health (Influenza) Regulations, 1947.

2. In these regulations, the following expressions have the meanings respectively assigned thereto :—

" the Minister " means the Minister for Health ;

" sanitary authority " means, as the case may be, the council of a county, the corporation of a county or other borough, the council of an urban district ;

" medical practitioner " means a person for the time being registered under the Medical Practitioners Act, 1927 ;

" medical officer of health " means—

(a) as respects a county health district or an urban district, the county medical officer of health for the county in which such district is situated, or

(b) as respects a county borough, the medical superintendent officer of health for such county borough.

3. (1) A sanitary authority may, from time to time, and shall, if at any time required by the Minister, do all or any of the following things :—

(a) purchase and keep a supply of such agents as may be approved by the Minister for producing immunity from infection with influenza or for treating persons suffering from influenza and such instruments and equipment as may be necessary in connection therewith ;

(b) make arrangements for the administration of the aforesaid agents to persons resident in the functional area of such sanitary authority, and

(c) supply any medical practitioner practising in the functional area of the sanitary authority with the aforesaid agents on such reasonable terms as the sanitary authority may fix.
