JAMS, MARMALADES AND FRUIT JELLIES (SUSPENSION OF CUSTOMS DUTIES) ORDER, 1947.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946), hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Jams, Marmalades and Fruit Jellies (Suspension of Customs Duties) Order, 1947.

2. In this Order, the expression " the appointed period " means the period beginning on the 8th day of January, 1947, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1947.

3. (1) The duty of customs imposed on jams, marmalades and fruit jellies by section 12 of the Finance (Customs Duties) (No. 2) Act, 1932 (No. 11 of 1932), as amended by subsequent enactments, is hereby suspended during the appointed period.

(2) The duty of customs imposed on certain packages by section 22 of the Finance Act, 1932 (No. 20 of 1932), as amended by subsequent enactments, is hereby suspended to the following extent, that is to say, the said section 22 shall not, during the appointed period, apply to jams, marmalades or fruit jellies.
