STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1946. No. 287.

CHILDREN ACT, 1941 (SECTION 21) REGULATIONS, 1946.

The Minister for Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 21 of the Children Act, 1941 (No. 12 of 1941), hereby. with the consent of the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, makes the following regulations :—

1 Short title

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Children Act, 1941 (Section 21) Regulations, 1946.

2 Commencement

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1946.

3 Payments in respect of inmates of certified schools

3. The payments to be made by local authorities to the managers of certified schools for the maintenance of such children and youthful offenders as such local authorities are liable under section 74 of the Children Act, 1908, as amended by section 20 of the Children Act, 1941 , to maintain shall be as follows :—

(a) in the case of industrial schools, eight shillings per week for each child ;

(b) in the case of reformatory schools, an amount not exceeding nine shillings and six pence per week nor less than eight shillings and six pence per week for each youthful offender.

4 Revocation of Regulations of 1944

4. The Children Act, 1941 (Section 21) Regulations, 1944 ( S. R. & O. No. 260 of 1944 ), are hereby revoked.
