NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE (APPROVED SOCIETIES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1946.

The Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the National Health Insurance Acts, 1911 to 1942, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, by this, his Order, makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) (Amendment) Regulations, 1946.

2. In these Regulations unless the context otherwise requires—

the expression " the Minister " means the Minister for Local Government and Public Health ;

the expression " the Society "means Cumann an Árachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte ;

the expression " contribution period " means any period in respect of which contribution cards may be issued under any regulations relating to the collection of contributions for the time being in force.

3.—(1) The Society shall forward to the Minister the contribution cards of its members relating to each contribution period before the expiration of six months from the end of such contribution period or before such later date as the Minister may, either generally or in any particular case, determine, and shall at the same time forward to the Minister contribution cards of its members for any preceding period in the hands of the Society, which cards for any preceding period shall, for the purpose of claiming credit in respect thereof, be treated as if they were contribution cards for the contribution period to which the contribution cards with which they are forwarded relate.

(2) The Society shall furnish such summaries, declarations and returns relating to contribution cards forwarded as aforesaid as the Minister may require.

(3) The Society shall not be credited in respect of any contribution paid by or in respect of an insured person who was not, or was not deemed to be, a member of the Society at the time when the contribution was paid.

4. Regulation 27 of the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 (S. R. and 0., No. 932 of 1918) is hereby revoked with effect as on and from the 8th day of July, 1946.

5. These Regulations shall come into operation and have effect as on and from the 8th day of July, 1946.

6.—(1) These Regulations shall be construed as one with the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1944.

(2) The National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1944, and these Regulations may be cited together as the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1946.
