MENTAL HOSPITALS OFFICERS (ATTENDANTS) ORDER, 1944.

DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

The Minister for Local Government and Public Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph (i) of sub-section (1) of section 19 and sub-section (1) of section 8 of the Local Government Act, 1941 , by this his Order, makes the following regulations, that is to say:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Mental Hospitals Officers (Attendants) Order, 1944.

2. Every holder to whom this Order applies of the office of attendant or nurse in a district mental hospital or auxiliary mental hospital shall cease to hold such office at the expiration of four years after his appointment to such office unless before such expiration such holder has been registered in the supplementary part of the register kept under section 2 of the Nurses Registration (Ireland) Act, 1919, containing the names of nurses trained in the nursing and care of persons suffering from mental diseases.

3. This Order shall apply—

(a) to any holder of the office of attendant or nurse who is appointed to such office after the date of this Order, and

(b) to any holder of such an office where the acquiring of the qualification mentioned in Article 2 of this Order within a specified time was one of the conditions of his appointment to such office.
