STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1942. No. 428.

CHILDREN ACT, 1941 (SECTION 21) REGULATIONS, 1942.

The Minister for Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 21 of the Children Act, 1941 (No. 12 of 1941), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby with the consent of the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, makes the following regulations—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Children Act, 1941 (Section 21) Regulations, 1942.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1942.

2. The payments to be made by local authorities to the managers of certified schools for the maintenance of such children and youthful offenders as such local authorities are liable under section 74 of the Children Act, 1908, as amended by section 20 of the Children Act, 1941 , to maintain shall be as follows—

(a) in the case of industrial schools—

(i) five shillings per week for each child under the age of six years,

(ii) seven shillings and sixpence per week for each child who is six years or upwards and under the age of sixteen years,

(iii) seven shillings and sixpence per week for each child (being a child whose period of detention is extended beyond the age of sixteen years under section 12 of the Children Act, 1941 (No. 12 of 1941),) who is sixteen years or upwards;

(b) in the case of reformatory schools, an amount not exceeding nine shillings per week nor less than eight shillings per week for each young person.
