STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1941. No. 79.

DEFENCE FORCES (BILLETING DURING A PERIOD OF EMERGENCY) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1941.

I, OSCAR TRAYNOR, Minister for Defence, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 12 of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) (No. 2) Act, 1940 (No. 11 of 1940), as applied by the Local Defence Force (Application of Section 12 of the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) (No. 2) Act, 1940 ) Regulations, 1941 (S. R. & O. No. 78 of 1941), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby, with the sanction of the Minister for Finance, make the following regulations, that is to say :—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Defence Forces (Billeting during a Period of Emergency) (Amendment) Regulations, 1941.

(2) The Principal Regulations and these Regulations may be cited together as the Defence Forces (Billeting during a Period of Emergency) Regulations, 1940 and 1941.

2. In these Regulations—

the expression " the Principal Regulations " means the Defence Forces (Billeting during a Period of Emergency) Regulations, 1940 ( S. R. & O. No. 267 of 1940 ) ;

the expression " called out for military service " means called out for military service under Article 20 of the Emergency Powers (No. 61) Order, 1940 (S. R. & O. No. 391 of 1940).

3. The Principal Regulations shall be construed and have effect as if—

(a) the references therein to officers included references to members of the Local Defence Force, holding appointments not lower than that of Section Leader, who are for the time being called out for military service ;

(b) the references therein to soldiers included references to members of the Local Defence Force, holding appointments lower than that of Section Leader, who are for the time being called out for military service ;

(c) the reference in Regulation 2 to members of the Defence Forces included a reference to members of the Local Defence Force who are for the time being called out for military service ;

(d) the reference in Regulation 4 to the Defence Forces included a reference to the Local Defence Force.
