STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1940. No. 199.

CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 37) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1940.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, that the Government may at any time by order amend any quota order previously made under the said Act :

AND WHEREAS by section 2 of the Control of Imports (Amendment) Act, 1937 (No. 8 of 1937), as adapted as aforesaid, it is enacted that the Government may, in and by a quota order, do all or any of certain things :

AND WHEREAS on the 12th day of November, 1937, the Control of Imports (Quota No. 37) Order, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 288 of 1937), was made under section 3 of the said Control of Imports Act, 1934 :

AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 37) (Amendment) Order, 1939 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 295 of 1939), the said Control of Imports (Quota No. 37) Order, 1937, was amended in certain respects :

NOW, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 and 1937, as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 37) (Amendment) Order, 1940.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. Paragraph 4 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 37) Order, 1937, is hereby amended by the deletion in sub-paragraph (a) thereof of the words " twelve shillings and nine pence " now contained therein by virtue of paragraph 3 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 37) (Amendment) Order, 1939, and the substitution in lieu of the wordsso deleted of the words " fourteen shillings and eleven pence," and the said paragraph 4 shall be construed and have effect accordingly.

4. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1940.
