CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (MANUFACTURE OF PAPER) (PROPORTION OF YOUNG PERSONS TO OTHER WORKERS) REGULATIONS, 1938.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 15 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936), that the Minister for Industry and Commerce may in respect of any form of industrial work, after consultation with representatives of employers interested in such form of industrial work and with representatives of workers so interested, by order make regulations fixing a proportion which the number of young persons employed by any employer to do such form of industrial work may bear to the number of other workers so employed :

AND WHEREAS the said Minister has had consultation with representatives of employers interested in the forms of industrial work specified in the Schedule to these Regulations and with representatives of workers so interested :

NOW, the Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 15 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby makes the following regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Conditions of Employment (Manufacture of Paper) (Proportion of Young Persons to other Workers) Regulations, 1938.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. The proportion which the number of young persons employed by any employer to do either of the forms of industrial work specified in the Schedule to these Regulations may bear to the number of other workers employed by such employer to do that form of industrial work shall be the proportion which two bears to seven.

SCHEDULE.

The process in the manufacture of paper of beating.

The process in the manufacture of paper of machining, that is to say, attending paper-making machines.
