STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1938. No. 78.

COINAGE (DIMENSIONS AND DESIGNS) ORDER, 1938.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (4) of Section 2 of the Coinage Act, 1926 (No. 14 of 1926), that the Minister for Finance may by order prescribe the dimensions and design of the several denominations of coins to be issued under that Act :

AND WHEREAS the Coinage (Dimensions and Designs) Order, 1928 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 76 of 1928), was made by the said Minister under the powers conferred on him by the said sub-section :

NOW, the Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sub-section (4) of Section 2 of the Coinage Act, 1926 (No. 14 of 1926), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Coinage (Dimensions and Designs) Order, 1938.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. In this Order, the expression " the Principal Order " means the Coinage (Dimensions and Designs) Order, 1928 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 76 of 1928).

4. Notwithstanding anything contained in the Principal Order, every coin issued under the Coinage Act, 1926 (No. 14 of 1926), after the date of this Order may, in lieu of the obverse impression prescribed in paragraph 4 of the Principal Order, have an obverse impression consisting of a harp, together with the inscription " Éire " and the date of the year, but shall in all other respects be in accordance with the Principal Order.
