STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1937. No. 245.

MERCHANT SHIPPING (SPANISH CIVIL WAR) ACT, 1937 (CONTINUATION) ORDER, 1937.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 2 of the Merchant Shipping (Spanish Civil War) Act, 1937 (No. 9 of 1937), that the said Act shall come into operation on such day as the Executive Council shall by order appoint for that purpose, and shall (unless continued under sub-section (2) of the said Section 2) expire at the expiration of six months from that day:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (2) of Section 2 of the said Act that the Executive Council may, whenever and so often as they think proper, by order continue the said Act in force for such time (not exceeding six months from the date on which it would otherwise expire) as they shall think proper and shall specify in such order:

AND WHEREAS by virtue of the Merchant Shipping (Spanish Civil War) Act, 1937 (Commencement) Order, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 51 of 1937), made by the Executive Council under sub-section (1) of Section 2 of the said Act, the said Act came into operation on the 20th day of March, 1937:

NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sub-section (2) of Section 2 of the Merchant Shipping (Spanish Civil War) Act, 1937 (No. 9 of 1937), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Spanish Civil War) Act, 1937 (Continuation) Order, 1937.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. The Merchant Shipping (Spanish Civil War) Act, 1937 (No. 9 of 1937) shall continue in force until the expiration of the 19th day of March, 1938.
