AGRICULTURAL SEEDS (SEEDS OF INJURIOUS WEEDS) REGULATIONS, 1937.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Agricultural Seeds Act, 1936 (No. 14 of 1936), that it shall not be lawful for any person to sell or offer or expose for sale any agricultural seeds which contain more than the prescribed percentage of the seeds of any prescribed injurious weeds:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 14 of the said Act that the Minister for Agriculture may by order make regulations for the purpose of prescribing any matter or thing which is referred to in the said Act as prescribed or to be prescribed:

NOW, I, SÉAMAS O RIAIN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Agricultural Seeds Act, 1936 (No. 14 of 1936), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order and make the following regulations, that is to say:—

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Agricultural Seeds (Seeds of Injurious Weeds) Regulations, 1937.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1937.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of these Regulations in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. For the purposes of sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Agricultural Seeds Act, 1936 (No. 14 of 1936)—

(a) each of the following weeds shall be an injurious weed, namely—

Docks and Sorrels (Rumex spp.)

Buttercups (Ranunculus spp.)

Ox-Eye Daisy (Chrysanthemum Leucanthemum L.)

Soft Brome Grass (Bromus mollis L. et spp.);

(b) the percentage of the seeds of any such weeds which may be contained in any agricultural seeds shall be three per cent. of the weight of such agricultural seeds.
