DANGEROUS DRUGS (PREPARATIONS CONTAINING MORPHINE, COCAINE, ETC.) (EXEMPTION) ORDER, 1937.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (3) of Section 17 of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1934 (No. 1 of 1934), that if it appears to the Executive Council that a finding with respect to any preparation containing any drug to which Part IV of the said Act applies has in pursuance of Article 8 of the Geneva Convention, 1925, been communicated by the Council of the League of Nations to the parties to the said Convention, the Executive Council may by order under the said sub-section (3) declare that as from such date as may be specified in such order such preparation shall cease to be a drug to which the said Part IV applies, and whenever any such order is made in relation to any such preparation, such preparation shall, so long as such order is in force, not be a drug to which the said Part IV applies:

AND WHEREAS it appears to the Executive Council that a finding with respect to the several preparations (being preparations containing drugs to which Part IV of the said Act applies) mentioned in the Schedule hereto has in pursuance of Article 8 of the Geneva Convention, 1925, been communicated by the Council of the League of Nations to the parties to the said Convention:

NOW, THEREFORE, the Executive Council., in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sub-section (3) of Section 17 of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1934 (No. 1 of 1934), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Dangerous Drugs (Preparations containing Morphine, Cocaine, etc.) (Exemption) Order, 1937.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. It is hereby declared that as from the 1st day of August, 1937, the several preparations (being preparations containing drugs to which Part IV of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1934 , applies) mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be drugs to which the said Part IV applies.
