WARBLE FLY (TREATMENT OF CATTLE) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1936.

The Minister for Agriculture, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the joint operation of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and the Diseases of Animals (Ireland) Acts, 1894 to 1935, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Warble Fly (Treatment of Cattle) (Amendment) Order, 1936.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. In this Order the expression " the Principal Order " means the Warble Fly (Treatment of Cattle) Order, 1936 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 20 of 1936).

4. The definition of the expression " treatment period " contained in paragraph (1) of Article 3 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution of the words and figures " the period commencing on the 1st day of March and ending on the 7th day of July," for the words and figures " the period commencing on the 15th day of March and ending on the 30th day of June " now contained therein, and the Principal Order shall be construed and have effect with due regard to the modification of the said expression hereby effected.

5. The Principal Order is hereby amended by the insertion therein of the following Article in lieu of Article 4 now contained therein and the Principal Order shall be construed and have effect accordingly, that is to say :—

" 4. Every person having in his possession or in his charge any cattle which are visibly infested with the larvae of the warble fly (hypoderma bovis or hypoderma lineatum) shall, for the purpose of destroying the larvae, take, in each year, the following measures, that is to say, between the first and seventh days (both days inclusive) of each of the following months, namely, March, April, May, June and July, dress the cattle with cattle wash by applying the cattle wash in such manner that it comes in contact with, the larvae through the breathing holes made by them in the skin of the cattle."

6. Article 12 of the Principal Order is hereby amended by the insertion after paragraph (2) of the said Article of the following additional paragraph, and the Principal Order shall be construed and have effect accordingly, that is to say:-

"(3). It shall not be lawful for any person to sell or offer for sale any article whatever purporting to be a cure or alleviation of Warble Fly infestation unless—

(a) such article is either cattle wash (warble fly) powder, or cattle wash (warble fly) (compound) powder, and (b) such article is approved by the Minister."
