GARDA SIOCHANA (PROMOTION) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1936.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of Section 14 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), that the Minister for Justice may from time to time, subject to the approval of the Executive Council, make regulations in relation to all or any of the matters mentioned in that sub-section and, amongst others, the promotion of members of the Gárda Síochána:

AND WHEREAS the Gárda Síochána (Promotion) Regulations, 1925 to 1936, were made by the Minister for Justice under the powers conferred on him by the said Section 14:

NOW, THEREFORE, the Minister for Justice, with the approval of the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 14 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby makes the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Gárda Síochána (Promotion) (No. 2) Regulations, 1936, and these Regulations and the Gárda Síochána (Promotion) Regulatious, 1925 to 1936, may be cited together as the Gárda Síochána (Promotion) Regulations, 1925 to 1936.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of these Regulations in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in Regulation 17 of the Gárda Síochána (Promotion) Regulations, 1925, persons who are appointed to be chief superintendents and are so appointed otherwise than by promotion from the rank of superintendent shall be graded on appointment in such manner as the Minister for Justice shall, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, determine.
