STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1936. No. 64.

CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 17, THIRD PERIOD, ADDITIONAL QUOTA) ORDER, 1936.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (4) of Section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), that whenever the Executive Council has, by order made under that section, appointed a quota in respect of any quota period, the Executive Council may, if they so think fit, by order made before the expiration of such quota period increase such quota by such amount (in that Act referred to as an additional quota) as they think proper :

AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, Third Period) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 611 of 1935), made under the said Section 6, the Executive Council appointed the period beginning on the 1st day of December, 1935, and ending on the 31st day of May, 1936, to be the third quota period under the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 97 of 1935), and appointed one hundred and eighty-four thousand hundredweights of oranges to be the quota in respect of the said third quota period and directed, under the powers conferred on them by sub-section (3) of the said Section 6, that of the said quota in respect of the said third quota period one hundred and sixty thousand, eight hundred hundredweights should consist of oranges which are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been produced in Spain and consigned to the importer from that country :

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 , that the Executive Council may at any time by order amend or revoke any quota order or other order previously made under the said Act, including an order made under the said Section 11 amending a previous order :

NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Act, 1934 , and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, Third Period, Additional Quota) Order, 1936.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. The quota appointed by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, Third Period) Order, 1935, in respect of the third quota period appointed by that Order is hereby increased by twenty thousand hundredweights of oranges, to the intent that the said twenty thousand hundredweights of oranges shall be an additional quota in respect of the said third quota period and the total quota in respect of the said third quota period shall be two hundred and four thousand hundredweights of oranges.

4. Paragraph 5 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 17, Third Period) Order, 1935, is hereby amended by the deletion of the words " one hundred and sixty thousand, eight hundred " now contained therein, and the substitution, for the words so deleted, of the words " one hundred and seventy-eight thousand, three hundred, " to the intent that of the said total quota of two hundred and four thousand hundredweights of oranges, one hundred and seventy-eight thousand, three hundred hundredweights shall consist of oranges which are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been produced in Spain and consigned to the importer from that country.
