DISEASES OF ANIMALS ACT, 1894 (EXTENSION TO RODENTS AND INSECTIVORA ORDER, 1933.

ORDER OF THE MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE.

The Minister for Agriculture, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in him by the joint operation of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and the Diseases of Animals (Ireland) Acts, 1894 to 1932, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling doth hereby order as follows —

1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894 (Extension to Rodents and Insectivora) Order, 1933.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. For the purposes of the following sections of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, that is to say, sections 22, 25, 43, 44, 56, 65 and 74 and all other sections (including sections relating to offences and legal proceedings) containing provisions relative to or consequent on the said sections 22, 25, 43, 44, 56, 65 and 74, the word "animals" in the said Act shall be and is hereby extended so as to include the following animals, that is to say—

hedgehogs, moles, shrews, squirrels, marmots, prairie dogs, beavers, rats, mice, voles, lemmings, jerboas, porcupines, agoutis, guinea pigs, South American capybara, hares and rabbits.
