BY-LAW No. 400 No. 8 or LIMERICK DISTRICT

RIVER SHANNON

I, FIONÁN O LOÍNGSIGH, Minister for Lands and Fisheries, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me by the Fisheries Act, 1925 , and of every other power enabling me in this behalf, do MAKE AND ORDAIN THE FOLLOWING BY-LAW :—

(1) It is prohibited to catch or attempt to catch fish by any means whatsoever in the head race leading from the sluices on the River Shannon in the townland of Ardcloony in the County of Clare to the power house near Ardnacrusha in the townland of Ballykeelaun in the said County, or in the tail race leading from the said power house to the River Shannon.

(2) It is prohibited to put, leave or have in possession in or on or near the banks of the said head and tail races any net or other instrument for the purpose of or capable of being used for catching fish.

(3) This By-law shall not apply to any person catching or attempting to catch fish for the purpose of artificial propagation or for scientific purposes in accordance with the provisions of the Fisheries Acts.

(4) Any person offending against this By-law shall forfeit and pay for each offence a sum not exceeding Five Pounds, and any net or other instrument used or found contrary thereto shall be forfeited.

(5) The Interpretation Act, 1923 , applies to the interpretation of this By-law in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

(6) This By-law may be cited for all purposes as the Limerick District By-law, No. 400, 1930.

(7) This By-law shall come into force on the 10th day of February, 1930.
