SCHOOL ATTENDANCE (VARIATION OF AREAS) ORDER, 1929.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of
Section 9
of the
School Attendance Act, 1926
(No. 17 of 1926), that the Minister for Education, after consultation with the Minister for Justice, shall by one or more orders divide the whole of Saorstát Éireann (except the county boroughs and urban districts mentioned in the Schedule to the said Act) into school attendance areas, and may from time to time by Order vary (by amalgamation, division, or alteration of boundaries of areas) such division, and it is enacted by sub-section (2) of the same section that every order made under that section shall prescribe the rank and station of the respective officers of the Gárda Síochána who are to be the enforcing authorities in the several areas to which the order relates,

AND WHEREAS in pursuance of the said section the Minister for Education by the School Attendance (Constitution of Areas) Order, 1926, divided the whole of Saorstát Éireann (except the county borough and urban districts mentioned in the Schedule to the said Act) into school attendance areas and prescribed the rank and station of the respective officers of the Gárda Síochána in the said several school attendance areas,

AND WHEREAS it is expedient to vary in the manner hereinafter appearing the division effected by the said Order,

AND WHEREAS the Minister for Education has before making this Order consulted with the Minister for Justice in regard thereto,

NOW I, JOHN MARCUS O'SULLIVAN, Minister for Education, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by
section 9
of the
School Attendance Act, 1926
(No. 17 of 1926), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling do hereby order as follows, that is to say :—
1. The
Interpretation Act, 1923
(No. 46 of 1923) applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.
2. In this Order the expression "the Principal Order" means the School Attendance (Constitution of Areas) Order, 1926.
3. The Principal Order shall be construed and have effect as if each school attendance area whose number is mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto were varied in the manner stated in the second column of the said Schedule in respect of such school attendance area.
4. The enforcing authority in every school attendance area whose number is specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be the officer of the Gárda Síochána holding the rank and stationed at the place prescribed in respect of such school attendance area by the Principal Order.
5. This order may be cited for all purposes as the School Attendance (Variation of Areas) Order, 1929, and the Principal Order and this Order may be cited together as the School Attendance (Constitution of Areas) Orders, 1926 and 1929.
