THE HEAVY MOTOR CAR (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1929.

DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

To the Council of each Administrative County; to the Council of each County Borough; to the Urban District Council of each Urban County District; and to all others whom it may concern:

WHEREAS in pursuance of Section 6 of the Locomotives on Highways Act, 1896, and Section 12 of the Motor Car Act, 1903, I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, did by Article II. of the Heavy Motor Car (Amendment) Order, 1928, revoke Article Xa. of the Heavy Motor Car (Ireland) Order, 1905, as added thereto by the Heavy Motor Car (Ireland) (Amendment) Order, 1919, and did substitute another Article in its place:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient to revoke the said Article Xa. of the Heavy Motor Car (Ireland) Order, 1905, as substituted as aforesaid and to substitute another Article in its place:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the above-mentioned enactments and of all other powers in that behalf enabling me, do hereby make the following Regulations:—

(i) This Order may be cited as the Heavy Motor Car (Amendment) Order, 1929, and may be cited together with the Heavy Motor Car Orders, 1905 to 1928, as the Heavy Motor Car Orders, 1905 to 1929.

(ii) Article Xa. of the Heavy Motor Car (Ireland) Order, 1905, as substituted by Article II. of the Heavy Motor Car (Amendment) Order, 1928, is hereby revoked and in place thereof the following Article shall be subtituted:

Xa.—Every heavy motor car used on any highway shall have such of its wheels as are not fitted with pneumatic tyres fitted with a device so constructed and fixed and of such a character as will prevent mud or water being thrown by any such wheel of such heavy motor car upon any person or property or upon any other vehicle.

(iii) This Order shall come into operation on the date hereof. Given under My Official Seal, this Twelfth day of March, in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty-nine.
