BY-LAW No. C.S. 82. No. 8 or LIMERICK DISTRICT.

RIVER SHANNON, ITS LAKES AND TRIBUTARIES

CLOSE SEASON FOR EELS.

I, FIONÁN O LOÍNGSIGH, Minister for Fisheries, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me by the Fisheries Act, 1925 , and of every other power enabling me in this behalf, do MAKE AND ORDAIN THE FOLLOWING BY-LAW :—

(1) The period heretofore appointed for the Annual Close Season during which it shall not be lawful to take or fish for Eels with lines and hooks (other than single rod and line) in the freshwater portion of the River Shannon, its Lakes and Tributaries, in the No. 8 or Limerick District, shall cease.

(2) There shall be kept and observed in lieu thereof as the Annual Close Season during which it shall not be lawful to take or fish for Eels with lines and hooks (other than single rod and line) in the said River Shannon, its Lakes and Tributaries the period from the 1st February in each year to the 30th April in the same year, both said days inclusive.

(3) The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923) applies to the interpretation of this By-law in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

(4) This By-law may be cited for all purposes as the River Shannon Close Season By-law, No. C.S. 82, 1928.

(5) This By-Law shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1928.
