The Irish Land (Provision For Sailors and Soldiers) Act, 1919, and The Land Trust Powers Act, 1923.


SAORSTÁT ÉIREANN. 28/03/1928: IRISH SAILORS AND SOLDIERS LAND TRUST

WHEREAS by the operation of the Land Trust Powers Act, 1923 and section 3 of the Act passed by the Parliament of the Late United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland entitled the Irish Free State (Consequential Provisions) Act, 1922, the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust subject to the provisions therein contained, have, in Saorstát Éireann for the purposes of section 3 of the said Irish Free State (Consequential Provisions) Act, 1922, all the powers which were conferred upon the Local Government Board for Ireland by section 4 of the Irish Land (Provision for Sailors and Soldiers) Act, 1919 :

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by section 1 (5) of the Land Trust Powers Act, 1923 , as adapted by the Ministers and Secretaries Act, 1924 , that the power of making Orders adapting enactments conferred on the Local Government Board for Ireland by sub-section (6) of section 4 of the Irish Land (Provisions for Sailors and Soldiers) Act, 1919, may be exercised by means of Orders made by the Minister for Local Government and Public Health and the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust jointly :

AND WHEREAS it appears to us to be necessary and expedient in order to give full effect to the provisions of section 4 of the Irish Land (Provisions for Sailors and Soldiers) Act, 1919, for the purposes of the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust, to make an Order adapting the provisions of sections 21, 22 and 23 of the Labourers (Ireland) Act, 1906, in manner hereinafter appearing :

NOW, THEREFORE, I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, and WE, the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust, in pursuance of and by virtue of the powers vested in us for that purpose as aforesaid and of all other powers enabling us in that behalf do hereby order jointly as follows : —

1. The expression " the Act " in this Order shall mean section 4 of the Irish Land (Provisions for Sailors and Soldiers) Act, 1919, as applied in effect and amended by the Land Trust Powers Act, 1923 .

2. For the purposes of the Act sections 21, 22 and 23 of the Labourers (Ireland) Act, 1906, shall be and the same are hereby adapted by the substitution therein of " the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust " for " a District Council " or for " the Council " where these words occur and of " the Act " for " the Labourers Acts " or " those Acts '' wherever these words occur.

3. This Order may be cited as " The Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust (Adaptation of Irish Labourers Acts) Order, 1928 ".
