THE HOUSING (IRELAND) ACT, 1919 (APPLICATION OF ENACTMENTS) ORDER, 1928.

WHERE AS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 30 of the Housing (Ireland) Act, 1919, as adapted by the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 (No. 2 of 1922), that there shall apply to Saorstát Eireann so much as the Governor-General of the Irish Free State upon the advice of the Executive Council declares applicable of the enactments specified in the Second Schedule to the said Housing (Ireland) Act, 1919 (being enactments relating to the housing of the working classes in England) subject to such adaptations as may be made by the Order for the purpose of carrying into full effect the application of the enactments to Saorstát Eireann:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that section 11 of the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1903, being one of the enactments specified in the Second Schedule to the said Housing (Ireland) Act, 1919, should apply to Saorstát Eireann:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JAMES McNEILL, Governor-General of the Irish Free State, upon the advice of the Executive Council and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 30 of the Housing (Ireland) Act, 1919, and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling do hereby order and declare as follows, that is to say:—

1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Housing (Ireland) Act, 1919 (Application of Enactments) Order, 1928.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1889, applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas passed before the 1st day of January 1924.

3. Section 11 of the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1903, shall apply to Saorstát Eireann as on and from the date of this Order.

4. For the purposes of the application to Saorstát Eireann of the said section 11 of the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1903, the references therein contained to the Housing Acts shall be construed as references to the Housing of the Working Classes (Ireland) Acts, 1890 to 1921, and the references therein contained to the Local Government Board shall be construed as references to the Minister for Local Government and Public Health.
