THE WEIGHTS AND MEASURES (AMENDING) REGULATIONS, 1927.

MADE BY THE MINISTER FOR INDUSTRY AND COMMERCE PURSUANT TO THE WEIGHTS AND MEASURES ACT, 1904.

WHEREAS it is provided by Article 11 of the Weights and Measures (Standard Bottles) Regulations, 1926, relating to the case of bottles which were in stock or in use for trade on the date when those Regulations came into force, that that Article shall not have effect after the 31st day of December, 1927, or such later date as may be defined by subsequent Regulations ;

AND WHEREAS it is provided by Article 14 of the Weights and Measures Regulations, 1907, that certain weights, measures and instruments already in existence at the date of those Regulations may subject to the provisions of the Article be continued in use and be re-stamped from time to time during a period of twenty years from the date of those Regulations ;

NOW, therefore, the Minister for Industry and Commerce in pursuance of the powers conferred on him by Section 5 of the Weights and Measures Act, 1904, and all other powers him in that behalf enabling, does hereby make the following Regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Amending) Regulations, 1927.

2. These Regulations shall come into force on the twentieth day of December, 1927.

3. The proviso to Article 11 of the Weights and Measures (Standard Bottles) Regulations, 1926, is hereby repealed, and the following proviso is substituted therefor :—

" provided that the provisions of this Article shall not have effect after the 30th day of April, 1928, and that after that date no bottle which has not been verified and stamped pursuant to the provisions of Articles 4, 5 and 8 of these Regulations shall be deemed to be lawfully verified and stamped ; save that any bottle which has been verified and stamped under the provisions of the said Article 11 before the 1st day of May, 1928, shall be deemed to be lawfully verified and stamped during the period ending on the 31st day of December, 1928."

4. The period of 20 years mentioned in paragraph (b) of Article 14 of the Weights and Measures Regulations, 1907, shall as regards platform machines and weighbridges, and provided they comply with the requirements of Tables XVI. and XVII. respectively appended to those Regulations, (relating to allowances for error permissible), be deemed to be the period ending on the 31st day of December, 1932.
