STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1927. No. 92.

JURORS (MINIMUM RATING QUALIFICATION) ORDER, 1927.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Juries Act, 1927 (No. 23 of 1927), that the Minister for Justice shall by order prescribe for every jury district the rateable value of land which is to be the minimum rating qualification for jurors in that jury district and may by any such Order prescribe different rateable values in respect of different classes of land:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (2) of the said section 2 of the said Juries Act, 1927 , that the Minister for Justice may from time to time as and when he thinks fit by Order vary the rateable value prescribed by him under the said section 2 in respect of land or any class or classes of land in that jury district:

AND WHEREAS the jury districts referred to in the Schedule to this Order are jury districts for the purposes of the said Juries Act, 1927 :

AND WHEREAS:

(a) by an Order entitled the Jurors Qualification (County Dublin) Order, 1927, dated the 1st day of September, 1927, the Minister for Justice did prescribe the rateable value of lands in the County of Dublin to be the minimum rating qualification for jurors as regards lands (but not as regards buildings) in the said County of Dublin; and

(b) by an Order entitled the Jurors Qualification (County Galway-District No. 1) Order 1927, dated the 9th day of September, 1927, the said Minister did prescribe the rateable value of lands in Jury District No. 1, County Galway, to be the minimum rating qualification for jurors as regards agricultural land in the said jury district:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the rateable value of lands prescribed by the said Minister in the Orders aforesaid should be varied, and that for that purpose the said Orders be revoked:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the rateable value of land which is to be the minimum rating qualification for jurors in the several jury districts referred to in the Schedule to this Order should be as hereinafter mentioned:

NOW, I, JAMES FITZGERALD-KENNEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sub-section (1) and subsection (2) of section 2 of the Juries Act, 1927 (No. 23 of 1927), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Jurors (Minimum Rating Qualification) Order, 1927.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. The Jurors Qualification (County Dublin) Order, 1927, and the Jurors Qualification (County Galway-District No. 1) Order, 1927, are hereby revoked.

4. The minimum rating qualification for jurors in the several jury districts referred to in the first column of the Schedule to this Order shall, in respect of the class of land mentioned in the second column of the said Schedule opposite the said jury districts respectively, be the rateable value of such land mentioned in that behalf in the said second column of the said Schedule.

5. The minimum rating qualification for jurors in the several jury districts referred to in the first column of the Schedule to this Order shall, in respect of the class of land mentioned in the third column of the said Schedule opposite the said jury districts respectively, be the rateable value of such land mentioned in that behalf in the said third column of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

In this Schedule

the word "lands" means every rateable hereditament entered as land in the Valuation Lists within the meaning of the Valuation Acts, and

the expression "other hereditaments" means every rateable hereditament other than those entered as land in the said Lists within the meaning of the Valuation Acts.
