FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (BOILING OF ANIMAL FOOD) ORDER OF 1927.

(Dated 7th June, 1927.)

The Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in them under the Agriculture and Technical Instruction (Ireland) Act, 1899, the Diseases of Animals Acts, 1894 to 1914, and of every other' power enabling them in this behalf, do, with the concurrence of the Minister for Lands and Agriculture, hereby order as follows:—

1 Precautions to be adopted in regard to the Feeding of Animals.

1. It shall be unlawful for any person to feed, or to cause or permit to be fed to any animal,—

(a) any imported meat, or

(b) any swill or broken or waste foodstuffs—including vegetables—which have been in contact with any imported meat,

unless the same shall have been boiled for at least one hour before being brought into contact with or fed to the animal.

2 Interpretation.

2. In this Order "animals" means cattle, sheep, pigs, or goats;

"Meat" means any part of the carcase (including the bones and offal) of an animal;

"Imported" means imported from any country outside of Ireland.

3 Offences.

3. If anything is done, or omitted to be done, in contravention of this Order, the owner and person in charge of the animals, and the owner and person in charge of any of the meat, swill or foodstuffs, including vegetables, in respect of which the contravention is committed, and the person causing, directing, or permitting the contravention, shall each according to and in respect of his own acts or omissions be deemed guilty of an offence against the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894.

4 Commencement.

4. This Order shall come into operation on the date hereof.

5 Short Title.

5. This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Boiling of Animal Food) Order of 1927.
