Power to amalgamate districts.

19.—(1) Upon the death or resignation of a coroner the council by whom he was appointed in lieu of appointing a successor may, and if required by the Minister for Local Government and Public Health shall, submit to the Minister for Local Government and Public Health a scheme for the amalgamation of his district or part of his district with the district or districts of any other coroner or coroners appointed by such council; and such scheme, if approved by the Minister for Local Government and Public Health after consultation with the Minister for Justice, shall come into force upon such date as the Minister for Local Government and Public Health shall determine.

(2) Such scheme may provide for a revision of the salary of any coroner whose district it is proposed to extend thereby and sub-sections (2) and (3) of section 18 of this Act shall apply in the case of such revision.
