THE ADAPTATION OF ENACTMENTS (BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES) ORDER, 1925.

THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT TEMPORARY PROVISIONS ACT, 1923 .

To each County Board of Health, and to all whom it may concern:

WHEREAS it is provided in effect amongst other things by Section 20 of the Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 (hereinafter referred to as " the Act ") that I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health may by Order make such adaptations of any existing enactment relating to any matter dealt with or affected by the Act as appear to me to be necessary or expedient for carrying into effect the Act or the County Scheme made thereunder:

AND WHEREAS it appears to me, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health necessary and expedient for the purpose of carrying into effect the Act and the County Schemes made thereunder to make the adaptations hereinafter appearing in the several enactments hereinafter specified being existing enactments relating to matters affected by the Act:

NOW THEREFORE I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Section 20 of the Act, do by this my Order, order as follows :—

1. The Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863, the Births and Deaths Registration Act (Ireland) 1880, and the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863, shall be and the same are hereby adapted as follows, that is to say :—

(i) wherever the context shall admit, references in the said Acts to :—

(a) a Board of Guardians,

(b) a Poor Law Union,

(c) the Clerk of the Union,

shall be read and construed as if they included respectively references to :—

(a) a County Board of Health ;

(b) the area of administration of a County Board of Health ;

(c) such Officer of a County Board of Health or other person as shall be designated by the Minister for Local Government and Public Health for the office of Superintendent Registrar.

(ii) Other words or expressions used in the said Acts having a like meaning, shall be read and construed accordingly.

2. The Order made by me in this behalf, called the Adaptation of Enactments (Births, Deaths and Marriages) Order, 1923, is hereby revoked.

3. This Order may be cited as the Adaptation of Enactments (Births, Deaths and Marriages) Order, 1925.
