07/04/1925: Electoral (County) Areas Order: Wicklow


DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers vested in me by sub-sections (2) and (3) of Section 1 of the Local Government (Ireland) Act, 1919, do hereby order and prescribe as follows :—

(1) This order may be cited as "the Wicklow County Electoral Areas Order, 1925."

(2) The County of Wicklow shall be divided into the County Electoral Areas for the election of County councillors which are set forth in the first column of the schedule to this order.

(3) Every such County Electoral Area shall consist of the district electoral divisions, urban districts or towns set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite to the name of such county electoral area.

(4) The number of county councillors to be elected for each county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite to the name of such county electoral area.

(5) Every division of the said county into county electoral areas and every assignment of the number of county councillors to be elected for each such area made before the date of this order shall cease to have effect.

4. (1) A council shall, seven days at least before making application to the Minister for an Order authorising them to close a road to public traffic, give public notice of their intention to apply for the Order by advertising the same in one or more newspapers, of which one shall be a daily newspaper, circulating within their area of administration.

(2) Every such public notice shall specify the road for which application is to be made for authority to close to public traffic ; the period for which the road is to be closed to public traffic ; and particulars of any alternative route which will be available for public traffic during the period for which the road is to be closed ; and shall also specify a period not being less than three days nor more than seven days after the date of advertisement of such public notice within which any person interested may lodge with the Minister an objection to the closing of the road.

5. A council authorised by order of the Minister to close any road to public traffic shall give public notice of such order by advertising the same in the newspaper or newspapers in which the public notice required by Regulation 1 appeared.

6. Where any road has been closed to public traffic under the authority of an Order of the Minister for a period of more than fourteen days, the council shall as soon as practicable after the re-opening thereof to public traffic give public notice of such re-opening by advertising the same in the newspaper or newspapers in which the public notice required by Regulation l appeared.
