THE POLLING DISTRICTS AND POLLING PLACES RULES, 1925.

THE ELECTORAL ACT, 1923 .

WHEREAS by Sub-sections (2) and (4) of Section 42 of the Electoral Act, 1923 , power is given to the Minister for Local Government from time to time to make rules for the exercise by Councils of their powers under the said Section 42 in relation to the division of administrative counties and county boroughs into polling districts, and the appointment of polling places for such districts:

AND WHEREAS the Polling Districts and Polling Places Rules, 1923 (in this Order referred to as "the Rules of 1923") are rules made by the Minister for Local Government in exercise of his said power:

AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the Rules of 1923 be now amended as hereinafter appears:

NOW, THEREFORE I, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, in exercise of the powers vested in me by Sub-sections (2) and (4) of Section 42 of the Electoral Act, 1923 , and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf do hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order shall be read as one with the Rules of 1923

2. This Order may be cited as the Polling Districts and Polling Places Rules, 1925, and this Order and the Rules of 1923 may be cited together as the Polling Districts and Polling Places Rules, 1923 and 1925.

3. Where the Minister, in pursuance of Sub-section (5) of Section 42 of the Act directs a Council to make alterations in polling districts or polling places, the following portions of the Rules of 1923, that is to say, Clause (3) of Rule 3, Paragraph (ii) of Rule 5, Paragraph (ii) and (iii) of Rule 6, Rule 7 and Rule 9, shall not apply to any alteration or scheme made in pursuance of such direction of the Minister.
