The Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 .

MAYO COUNTY SCHEME.

To the Council of the Administrative County of Mayo; to the Mayo County Board of Health; and to all whom it may concern:

WHEREAS by the Mayo County Scheme Order, 1923, I, the Minister for Local Government, in pursuance of Section 5 of the Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 (hereinafter referred to as "the Act") did amend and modify the existing County Scheme relating to the Administrative County of Mayo, as set out in the First Schedule to the Act in such way as to bring it into conformity with the provisions set out in the Schedule to the said Order, and did substitute the said provisions for the provisions of the said existing County Scheme (which said first mentioned provisions are in the said Order and this Order referred to as the Mayo County Scheme):

AND WHEREAS the Mayo County Scheme has come into operation, and I, the Minister for Local Government, deem it necessary further to amend the said scheme by the substitution of a new sub-article for sub-article (i) of article 15 thereof, and did on the 20th day of February, 1924, give to the Council of the Administrative County of Mayo one month's notice of my intention to make the said amendment and have taken into consideration any representation which has been made to me by such Council within such month in respect of the said amendment:

NOW THEREFORE I, the Minister for Local Government, in exercise of the powers given to me by section 5 of the Act, the said month having expired, do by this My Order, amend the Mayo County Scheme in manner following and order and direct as follows:—

1. Sub-article (i) of article 15 of the Mayo County Scheme shall be and the same is hereby rescinded and the Mayo County Scheme shall be read and construed as if there were therein substituted the following sub-article in its stead.

Subject to the provisions of this Scheme and to any directions of the Minister in that behalf, the Board of Health shall provide and maintain for the reception and maintenance of persons in the County eligible for relief:—

(a) A County Home at Castlebar for aged and infirm persons, children under three years of age and unmarried mothers.

(b) A County Hospital at Castlebar for the treatment of medical, surgical and maternity cases, and cases of infectious and contagious diseases.

(c) A District Hospital at Ballina for the treatment of medical, surgical and maternity cases, and cases of infectious and contagious diseases.

(d) A Cottage Hospital at Achill Sound for the treatment of medical, surgical and maternity cases, and cases of infectious and contagious diseases.

(e) A Fever Hospital at Swinford for the treatment of cases of infectious and contagious diseases.

(f) A Fever Hospital at Belmullet for the treatment of cases of infectious and contagious diseases.

(g) With the approval of the Minister such other institutions as they may deem desirable for the relief of the poor in their county.

2. This amendment shall come into operation on the first day of June, 1924.

3. This Order may be cited as the "Mayo County Scheme (No. 2) Order, 1924."
