REGULATIONS, DATED 21ST JUNE, 1924, MADE BY THE IRISH INSURANCE COMMISSIONERS, WITH THE CONCURRENCE OF THE MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH, UNDER SECTION 35 (2) OF THE NATIONAL INSURANCE ACT, 1911 (1 & 2 GEO. 5, c. 55).

The Irish Insurance Commissioners, in exercise of the several powers conferred on them by Section 35 (2) of the National Insurance Act, 1911, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, do hereby, with the concurrence of the Minister for Local Government and Public Health, make the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Amendment Regulations, 1924,* and shall be read as one with the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1922 (hereinafter referred to as the "principal Regulations"), and these Regulations and the principal Regulations may be cited together as the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1924.

2. As from the 1st April, 1922, sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph 2 of the Schedule to the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Regulations, 1922, shall apply to every member of a Society or Branch who is a soldier enlisted on short service in the armed forces of Saorstát Éireann in like manner as it applied to the seamen, marines, soldiers and airmen mentioned therein.

3. As from the 1st day of January, 1924, for the purpose of calculating the maximum sum which may be carried to the administration account of a society or branch for the year out of contributions payable under the principal Act, the following sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) shall be substituted for sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) respectively of paragraph (2) of the Schedule to the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Amendment Regulations, 1922, viz.:—

* These Regulations supersede the Provisional Regulations entitled the National Health Insurance Approved Societies (Amendment) Regulations, 1923, which were made, and came into force, on the 24th December, 1923.

(a) for every member of the society or branch who is a soldier enlisted on short service in the armed forces of Saorstát Éireann the amount of two shillings and twopence half-penny;

(b) for every other member of the society or branch the amount of four shillings and fivepence;

and the words "soldiers enlisted on short service in the armed forces of Saorstát Éireann" shall be substituted for the words "seaman, marine, soldier or airman in the service of the Crown" occurring in the proviso to paragraph (2) aforesaid, and as from the date aforesaid the National Health Insurance (Approved Societies) Consolidated Regulations, 1918 to 1924, shall be read accordingly.
