WOMEN'S EQUALISATION FUND REGULATIONS, 1923.

REGULATIONS, DATED 13TH APRIL, 1923, MADE BY THE IRISH INSURANCE COMMISSIONERS, WITH THE CONCURRENCE OF THE MINISTER OF FINANCE, UNDER SECTION 2 (2) OF THE NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE ACT, 1918 (7 & 8 GEO. V., c. 62).

The Irish Insurance Commissioners, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 65 of the National Health Insurance Act, 1911, and Section 2 (2) of the National Health Insurance Act, 1918, and of every other power enabling them in that behalf, do hereby, with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance, make the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Insurance (Women's Equalisation Fund) Regulations, 1923.

2. For the purposes of Section 2 (2) of the National Health Insurance Act, 1918, the total number of married women who are members of Approved Societies, and who are employed contributors, shall be calculated, in respect of the years 1919 to 1921, both inclusive, as follows:—

(1) There shall be ascertained the number of married women who, according to the valuation schedules of Approved Societies, were members of Approved Societies on the 31st December, 1918, and were under 70 years of age, and for this purpose any married woman whose normal occupation ceased to be employment within the meaning of Section 22 of the National Health Insurance Act, 1918, before that date, and who had not again before that date become an employed contributor, shall be excluded from the calculation.

(2) The number so ascertained shall, in the case of each of the years referred to above, be decreased by the percentage specified in the schedule to these Regulations, and the resulting number shall be the number for the purposes aforesaid in respect of that year.

(3) In this Article the expression "valuation schedules" means the schedules prepared on behalf of the Irish Insurance Commissioners on the basis of returns furnished by Approved Societies for the purpose of the valuation of the assets and liabilities of Approved Societies, made on the 31st day of December, 1918.

3. Article 3 of the National Health Insurance (Women's Equalisation Fund) Regulations, 1918 (S.R. & O., 1918, No. 1515), is hereby repealed and shall be deemed never to have had effect.
