Local Authorities (Extension of Time) Act, 1923

Extension of time for exercising powers.

1.—(1) Wherever any powers have been conferred on a Local Authority by a Special Act and such powers are, by virtue of such Special Act, exercisable only during a period of time which expired within three years before the passing of this Act, or will expire within one year after the passing of this Act, it shall be lawful for the Minister on the application of such Local Authority by Order under his Seal to extend the period of time aforesaid to any date not being later than two years after the passing of this Act.

(2) If and whenever an Order is made by the Minister under this Act extending any such period of time as aforesaid, the Special Act by which such period of time was limited shall have effect as if the extended period of time named in such Order were substituted in such Special Act for the period of time actually mentioned therein.
