S.I. No. 62/2024 - National University of Ireland, Galway (Change of Name of University) Order 2024

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 10 (1) of the Universities Act 1997 (No. 24 of 1997) and the Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 451 of 2020 ) (as adapted by the Education and Skills (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 450 of 2020 )), at the request of the governing authority of the National University of Ireland, Galway, and with the consent of the Senate of the National University of Ireland, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the National University of Ireland, Galway (Change of Name of University) Order 2024.

2. This Order shall come into operation on 21 February 2024.

3. The name of the university, the present name whereof is, in the English language, the National University of Ireland, Galway and, in the Irish language, Ollscoil na hÉireann, Gaillimh, is hereby changed, in the English language, to that of University of Galway and, in the Irish language, to that of Ollscoil na Gaillimhe.
