S.I. No. 589/2023 - Criminal Evidence Act 1992 (Sections 13 and 16) (Commencement) Order 2023

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 5th December, 2023.

I, HELEN MCENTEE, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (3) of the Criminal Evidence Act 1992 (No. 12 of 1992) (as adapted by the Justice and Equality (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 452 of 2020 )), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Evidence Act 1992 (Sections 13 and 16) (Commencement) Order 2023.

(2) In this Order, “Act of 1992” means the Criminal Evidence Act 1992 (No. 12 of 1992).

2. The 30th day of November 2023 is fixed as the day on which section 13 of the Act of 1992 shall come into operation for the District Court sitting in District No. 18.

3. The 30th day of November 2023 is fixed as the day on which section 16 (in so far as it is not already in operation) of the Act of 1992 shall come into operation for –

(a) the District Court sitting in District No. 1,

(b) the District Court sitting in District No. 2,

(c) the District Court sitting in District No. 3,

(d) the District Court sitting in District No. 4,

(e) the District Court sitting in District No. 5,

(f) the District Court sitting in District No. 6,

(g) the District Court sitting in District No. 7,

(h) the District Court sitting in District No. 8,

(i) the District Court sitting in District No. 9,

(j) the District Court sitting in District No. 10,

(k) the District Court sitting in District No. 12,

(l) the District Court sitting in District No. 13,

(m) the District Court sitting in District No. 15,

(n) the District Court sitting in District No. 16,

(o) the District Court sitting in District No. 17,

(p) the District Court sitting in District No. 18,

(q) the District Court sitting in District No. 19,

(r) the District Court sitting in District No. 20,

(s) the District Court sitting in District No. 21,

(t) the District Court sitting in District No. 22,

(u) the District Court sitting in District No. 23,

(v) the District Court sitting in District No. 24,

and

(w) the District Court sitting in District No. 25.
