S.I. No. 233/2022 - Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (Commencement) Order 2022


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, STEPHEN DONNELLY, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (Commencement) Order 2022.

2. The 31st day of May 2022 is appointed as the day on which section 99 of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020), insofar as that section relates to the substitution in section 47 of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 (No. 25 of 2007) of subsections (2) and (3), shall come into operation.

This Order appoints 31st day of May 2022 as the day on which section 99 of the Regulated Professions (Health and Social Care) (Amendment) Act 2020 (No. 16 of 2020), insofar as that section relates to the substitution in section 47 of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 (No. 25 of 2007) of subsections (2) and (3), shall come into operation

The provision amends the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 to create an eligibility for registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council’s Register by a small cohort of medical practitioners.
