S.I. No. 164/2022 - Local Government Rates and Other Matters Act 2019 (Commencement) Order 2022


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, DARRAGH O’BRIEN, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (5) of section 28 of the Local Government Rates and Other Matters Act 2019 (No. 24 of 2019) (as adapted by the Housing, Planning and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 ( S.I. No. 408 of 2020 )), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Rates and Other Matters Act 2019 (Commencement) Order 2022.

2. The 4th day of April 2022 is appointed to be the day on which paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of section 26 of the Local Government Rates and Other Matters Act 2019 (No. 24 of 2019) shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order appoints 4 April 2022 as the date on which paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of section 26 of the Local Government Rates and Other Matters Act 2019 (No. 24 of 2019) shall come into operation.

The provisions technically amend the transitional arrangements provided for under sections 22(2), 25(2) and 26(2) of the Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2019 (No. 14 of 2019) in relation to the requirement for the annual registration of tenancies with the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) and the associated tenancies registration fees in the private residential rented sector and the approved housing body rented sector.
