Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 5th January, 2021.

I, RODERIC O’GORMAN, Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (1)(j) of the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 (No. 23 of 2020), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 (Part 21) (Commencement) Order 2020.

2. The 31st day of December 2020 at 11.00 p.m. is appointed as the day on which and the time at which Part 21 of the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 (No. 23 of 2020) shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

The effect of this Order is to commence Part 21 (sections 128 to 131) of the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 .

Part 21 of the Act makes provision for citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, including citizens of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, to access the National Childcare Scheme on the same basis as Irish citizens.
