S.I. No. 287/2020 - Garda Síochána (Ranks) Regulations 2020

I HELEN MCENTEE, Minister for Justice and Equality, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by paragraphs (a) and (b) of section 122(1) (as amended by section 56(a) of the Garda Síoch ána (Policing Authority and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2015 (No. 49 of 2015)) of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (No. 20 of 2005)(as adapted by the Justice and Law Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 138 of 2011 )), after consulting with the Garda Commissioner and the Policing Authority and with the approval of the Government, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Garda Síochána (Ranks) Regulations 2020.

2. (1) The members of the Garda Síochána, other than reserve members, are to be divided into the ranks specified in column (1) of the Schedule.

(2) The maximum number of members in each rank specified in column (1) of the Schedule is that specified in column (2) of that Schedule opposite the mention of the rank in column (1).

3. The Garda Síochána (Ranks) (No. 2) Regulations 2009 ( S.I. No. 390 of 2009 ) are revoked.
