S.I. No. 217/2018 - Nurses and Midwives (Candidate Register) Rules 2018


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 29th June, 2018.

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 13 of the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011 (No. 41 of 2011), with the approval of the Minister for Health, hereby makes the following rules:-

Citation

1. These Rules may be cited as the Nurses and Midwives (Candidate Register) Rules 2018.

Commencement

2. These Rules come into operation on 25 June 2018.

Definitions

3. In these Rules—

“Act” means the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011 (No. 41 of 2011);

“candidate number” means the personal identification number (PIN) attached to the registration of a candidate in the candidate register.

Divisions of candidate register

4. The candidate register shall consist of the following divisions:

(a) nurse candidate division;

(b) general nurse candidate division;

(c) psychiatric nurse candidate division;

(d) children’s nurse candidate division;

(e) intellectual disability nurse candidate division; and

(f) midwife candidate division.

Information to be contained in candidate register

5. The candidate register shall contain, in respect of each candidate registered, the following particulars:

(a) first name and surname, as appear on the proof of identity provided when he or she applied to be registered;

(b) if applicable, any other name by which the candidate is known;

(c) candidate number;

(d) date and place of birth;

(e) gender;

(f) postal address for correspondence;

(g) email address for correspondence;

(h) contact telephone number(s);

(i) languages spoken;

(j) dates of commencement of his or her programme of study or adaptation period, as applicable;

(k) division(s) of the candidate register in which registered;

(l) the name of the educational body with which he or she is studying and the title and duration of the programme being studied, or the name of the healthcare facility at which the candidate is undertaking his or her adaptation period, as applicable;

(m) if applicable, details of current registrations as a nurse or midwife in other jurisdictions; and

(n) any further particulars the Board obtains from the candidate in the exercise of its regulatory functions.

These Rules provide for the divisions of the candidate register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland under the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011 , and the particulars to be entered in such register.

These Rules may be cited as the Nurses and Midwives (Candidate Register) Rules 2018.

These Rules come into operation on 25 June 2018.
