S.I. No. 637/2016 - Health Insurance Authority Superannuation Scheme 2016.


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 3rd January, 2017.

The Health Insurance Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 28 of the Health Insurance Act 1994 (No. 16 of 1994), with the consent of the Minister for Health and the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, hereby makes the following Scheme.

1. (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Health Insurance Authority Superannuation Scheme 2016.

(2) This Scheme comes into operation on 21 December 2016.

2. The Rules set out in the Schedule to the Rules for Pre-existing Public Service Pension Scheme Members Regulations 2014 ( S.I. No. 582 of 2014 ) are adopted as a Scheme for the granting of superannuation benefits to or in respect of members of the staff, including the Registrar, of the Health Insurance Authority.

3. The Health Insurance Authority Employee Superannuation Scheme 2014 ( S.I. No. 318 of 2014 ) is revoked upon the commencement of this Scheme.

The Minister for Health consents to the making of the foregoing Scheme.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Scheme may be cited as the Health Insurance Authority Superannuation Scheme 2016. The purpose of these Regulations is to adopt the Rules set out in the Schedule to the Rules for Pre-existing Public Service Pension Scheme Members Regulations 2014 ( S.I. No. 582 of 2014 ) as a scheme for the granting of superannuation benefits to the Registrar and staff of the Health Insurance Authority who are not members of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme.
