S.I. No. 421/2016 - Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2016.


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 26th July, 2016.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 6 (1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2016.

(2) This Order comes into operation on 23 July 2016.

2. The name of the Department of State, the present name of which is, in the Irish Language, an Roinn Cumarsáide, Fuinnimh agus Acmhainní Nádúrtha and, in the English language, the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, is altered, in the Irish language, to that of an Roinn Cumarsáide, Gníomhaithe ar son na hAeráide agus Comhshaoil and, in the English language, to that of the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment.

3. The title of the Minister having charge of the Department of State, whose present title is, in the Irish language, an tAire Cumarsáide, Fuinnimh agus Acmhainní Nádúrtha and, in the English language, the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, is altered, in the Irish Language, to that of An tAire Cumarsáide, Gníomhaithe ar son na hAeráide agus Comhshaoil and, in the English language, to that of the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment.

4. In any enactment or any instrument made under an enactment—

(a) references to the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources shall be construed as references to the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment;

(b) references to the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources shall be construed as references to the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment.
