S.I. No. 613/2015 - Environmental Protection Agency (Advisory Committee) Regulations 2015.


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 5th January, 2016.

The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 6, 27(5) and 27(16) of the Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992 (No. 7 of 1992), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Environmental Protection Agency (Advisory Committee) Regulations 2015.

2. In these Regulations:—

“the Act” means the Environmental Protection Agency Act 1992 ;

“Advisory Committee” means the Advisory Committee provided for in section 27 of the Act.

3. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27(5)(a) of the Act shall be—

(a) The Agricultural Science Association,

(b) The County and City Managers Association,

(c) The Environmental Health Officers Association,

(d) The Institute of Chemistry of Ireland,

(e) The Institution of Engineers of Ireland,

(f) The Institution of Water and Environmental Management — Republic of Ireland Branch,

(g) The Directors of Public Health of the Health Service Executive,

(h) Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland,

(i) Institute of Public Health in Ireland,

(j) The Dental Council,

(k) The Medical Council, and

(l) Irish Association of Physicists in Medicine.

4. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27(5)(b) of the Act shall be—

(a) Fáilte Ireland,

(b) The Heritage Council,

(c) The Irish Environmental Network,

(d) Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland,

(e) Health and Safety Authority of Ireland,

(f) Food Safety Authority of Ireland, and

(g) Irish Environmental Law Association.

5. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27(5)(c) of the Act shall be—

(a) The Irish Business and Employers Confederation,

(b) The Irish Congress of Trade Unions,

(c) The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association,

(d) The Irish Farmers Association,

(e) The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland,

(f) Enterprise Ireland, and

(g) Industrial Development Authority.

6. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27(5)(d) of the Act shall be—

(a) The Association of Irish Local Government,

(b) The National Women’s Council of Ireland,

(c) The National Youth Council of Ireland,

(d) Irish Rural Link,

(e) The Wheel, and

(f) Disability Federation of Ireland.

7. The prescribed organisations for the purposes of section 27(5)(e) of the Act shall be—

(a) Inland Fisheries Ireland,

(b) The Industry Research and Development Group,

(c) The Marine Institute,

(d) The Royal Irish Academy,

(e) Teagasc,

(f) The Higher Education Authority,

(g) Irish Universities Association, and

(h) Irish Radiation Research Society.

8. Where a request is made to prescribed organisations pursuant to section 27(7) of the Act the organisations shall, before the expiration of 6 weeks com-mencing on the day on which the request is made, inform the Minister of the names of the candidates selected and of the reasons why, in the opinion of the organisations, they are suitable for such appointment and shall send to the Mini-ster a curriculum vitae in relation to each candidate together with a written consent of each candidate to the selection of that candidate in accordance with the request.

9. The Environmental Protection Agency (Advisory Committee) Regulations 2012 ( S.I. No. 405 of 2012 ) are hereby revoked.

These Regulations prescribe the various organisations for the purposes of sel-ecting candidates for consideration for appointment by the Minister as members of the Advisory Committee of the Environmental Protection Agency and deal with related matters.
